A traditional ice shaver comprises of a collection blade and plate, a spiked plate, a motor, a crank, a platform, and a stand. If you want to shave the ice with the help of ice shaver, first freeze a tub of water and let it melt slightly.
When it’s ready to be shaved, the tub of ice has to be placed on the platform. With the help of hand crank, push the spiked plate firmly down (on top of ice). Plug in the ice shaver, then the motor in the ice shaver will rotate.
In the platform, a long blade is integrated at the corner of protrudes. Similar to a cheese grater, this corner will shave the ice, and all the ice shavings will be collected in the plate fixed just below the blades.

Working of Ice Grinder
Comparatively, using an ice grinder is lot easier than ice shaver. For most of the models, simply the user has to drop ice cubes into the grinding cabin called hopper, located at the top of the machine. Based on model’s quality, you need to activate or crank a motor to grind ice. The ice grinder works exactly like a meat slicer.
After grinding ice, one can see small chunks of ice, which do not absorb the syrup as efficiently as shaved ice. Still, an ice grinder is very efficient for making ice desserts.
Tips to Maintain Ice Shaver
After using ice shaver, it has to be cleaned very neatly, by following the cleaning instructions advised by the manufacturer.
All parts and body of ice shaver have to be cleaned with soap and while cleaning gloves have to be worn compulsorily.
Tips for ice grinders are applicable to ice shavers, and vice versa. If you maintain these appliances well, then you can expect a good lifetime, otherwise you may have a hard time covering up for the maintenance costs!
